Keep going. Remember that you must finish the novel for it to have a chance in this world. You absolutely must complete it. And of course, as soon as I do I think of new things. I go back, refining, adding a little. And when I stop feeling the urge to do that, well, I know it’s really finished.
This advice works because unfinished novels can be endlessly perfected in your head, but only finished ones can be judged, published, or loved by anyone else. A draft with flaws that exists beats a flawless draft that doesn't. Finishing also changes how you revise — you're no longer guessing at what the book needs, you're responding to what it actually is on the page.
Say you're stuck on chapter twelve, convinced it's wrong. Push through to the end anyway. Once you see the whole shape, that chapter's problems often solve themselves, or turn out not to matter.
The caution: "I keep wanting to change it" can become an excuse to never let go. If every pass adds more than it settles, you're not refining anymore — you're circling. Set a limit, then release it.
