Hear the trumpets sing,
And hear the alarm bells ring!
For Bindas has arrived.
Hear the trumpets sing,
And hear the alarm bells ring!
For Bindas has arrived.
There's a nice friction built into this one: trumpets and alarm bells occupying the same breath, fanfare and warning sounded together rather than in sequence. That's the turn, and it's doing more work than a tidy nature-image haiku might — it tells you Bindas's arrival is both celebration and disruption before you even know who Bindas is. The syllable count bends the traditional form loosely, but the spirit holds: compression forcing two contradictory feelings to occupy one small space.
The mood is somewhere between coronation and fire drill, which is funny once you notice it, and that's the reward of a second read — the first pass hears triumph, the second hears the joke that triumph and chaos arrive on the same sound. Naming Bindas last, after all that noise, is the right choice too. The name lands like a punchline the fanfare was building toward.
