the truest love for you

hardened heart healing
There's a lovely thaw running through this one. The poem sets fear against melting, hardness against healing, and lets those pairs do the emotional work without ever raising its voice. Love arrives first as an idea, but by the final line it has become physical, geological even — a heart with mineral weight, softening under warmth it didn't ask for. That's the turn: from abstraction to body, from armor to admission.
There's a quiet seasonal logic too, ice giving way to something warmer, which lends the piece a sense of change happening almost against its own will. The compression suits that. Nothing is explained, only placed side by side, so the reader supplies the history behind the hardened heart.
Reading it twice, the order of operations rewards attention: fear melts before the heart heals, as though safety has to arrive before repair can start.
