Confession without consequence is a strange thing to carry — you can write it as comedy, the kind of petty crime that still makes you laugh alone in the kitchen twenty years later, like swapping a sibling's shampoo for something blue. Or take it somewhere quieter: the guilt that never quite left, even though no one ever found out, a small stone you've kept in your pocket so long it's smoothed down but never disappeared. There's also the defiant angle — maybe you'd do it again, no regrets, and the story becomes about justice you handed yourself when nobody else would. Or flip it entirely and write about watching someone else get away with something, and what it taught you about fairness, silence, or who gets believed. Start wherever the memory still has heat in it.
