Blasphemy doesn't have to mean fire and brimstone — it can be quiet, domestic, almost tender. Maybe it's a kid asking the priest a question nobody's supposed to ask, and the whole pew holding its breath. Maybe it's someone whispering the wrong thing at a funeral because the truth was funnier than the eulogy. Push it further into fantasy or myth and blasphemy becomes a spell, a name spoken that wasn't meant to be spoken, a god who overhears and simply sighs instead of smiting. Or go modern and secular — the sacred thing being defiled is a family recipe, a sports rivalry, a beloved book series, and the blasphemer is just someone who liked the movie better. Play with who gets to decide what's holy, and what it costs to say the unsayable out loud.
