📖 Notes & analysis

One direction is quiet reckoning: write to the leader as someone standing in the world their choices built, neither praising nor condemning, just showing them the weather that came after their storm — what grew back, what never did. Another is mischievous and warm: treat the time machine like a nosy neighbor's invention, dashing off a letter full of odd questions and unsolicited advice, the kind you'd send a stubborn old uncle rather than a statue in a textbook. A third leans personal and small — skip the history-book version of them entirely and address the private person underneath, the one who had a favorite meal or a bad habit or a child who missed them, using the letter to shrink a giant back down to human size.
