“Why would you want to do that?”
Your move, writer.
“Why would you want to do that?”
Your move, writer.
That question can land as a challenge, a plea, or a joke, depending on who's asking and why. Try it as suspicion between old friends, where the answer reveals a secret one of them has been circling for years, turning a simple scene into a quiet reckoning. Or take it somewhere lighter: a kid explaining to a bewildered parent why the backyard needs to become a volcano by Tuesday, logic airtight in its own small universe. There's also the version where the question is asked gently, almost sadly, by someone watching another person choose a hard road on purpose, and the answer becomes less about the choice and more about what they're finally willing to admit out loud. Let the tone decide whether this is comedy, tenderness, or the first crack in something bigger.
