Wounds bleed eternal
a thousand cuts running deep
grief is a razor
This one works by refusing to soften its own metaphor. Wounds, cuts, razor — the images don't escalate so much as press harder each time, like someone checking a bruise to see if it still hurts. There's no real turn in the usual haiku sense, no pivot toward light or season, and that's the point: grief here doesn't move, it accumulates. The "thousand cuts" line does the heaviest lifting, stretching the wound image into something almost architectural, a structure grief lives inside rather than passes through.
What the compression earns is the final line landing like a diagnosis instead of a metaphor. By the time you reach "razor," it doesn't feel like a comparison anymore — it feels like a fact the speaker has already accepted. Read it twice and the stillness becomes the mood itself, grief as weather that never breaks.
