📖 Notes & analysis

Someone could play this as pure comedy of embarrassment — a kid reading their own school newspaper article aloud at dinner, and the whole family can't stop laughing, including the kid eventually. Or flip it toward quiet frustration: a person who worked hard on something true and earnest gets told it sounds fake, and has to sit with that sting of being disbelieved for getting the facts right. There's also a sharper, sillier route — treat the line as the setup for an actual ridiculous news story within the story, letting the writing get as absurd as it wants, headline and all, before pulling back to who's reading it and why. Worth deciding early whether the humor cuts toward the writer, the reader, or the strange thing being written about.
