Wordle-style game

A Wordle-style game is a daily word-guessing game in which you try to find a hidden word in a limited number of guesses, with colored tiles after each guess showing which letters are right and in the right place.

Wordle was made by Josh Wardle, spread widely in early 2022 and was later bought by the New York Times. Its design is easy to copy: one word a day, a small number of tries, instant feedback and a result you can share without spoiling the answer. Many variants followed, with other languages, longer words, numbers, maps and music.

What makes the format stick is the size. A game takes a few minutes, everyone gets the same word, and a tidy shareable grid of colored squares lets people compare without revealing the answer. The strategy is the same across versions: start with a guess that tests common letters, use the feedback to narrow the options, and avoid repeating letters you have ruled out.

Bossfeed does not have a Wordle copy. If you like the daily word habit, the nearest options are the daily cryptogram, Anagram Quotes and Wise Word Finder, which all give you one word puzzle a day with no sign-up.
