Streak

A streak is the count of consecutive days on which a player has completed a daily game or activity, which starts again from one if a day is missed.

Streaks turn a single puzzle into a routine. The number rises by one each day you play, and the fear of resetting it is a surprisingly strong reason to come back. Language apps, fitness trackers and word games all use them. The effect is real but double-edged: a streak can motivate you or turn into a chore.

Well-designed streaks are forgiving. They count a day by the local clock, make it easy to see what counts, and sometimes offer a day of grace. Keep yours healthy by tying the puzzle to something you already do, such as morning coffee.

On Bossfeed, signing in is optional. Your time goes on the daily leaderboard either way, under a made-up name if you are signed out, and signing in puts your own name there and carries your streak to any device. You can play every daily puzzle without an account, and past puzzles stay in the archive.
