Jackbox-style game

A Jackbox-style game is a party game in which the action appears on one shared screen and each player takes part from their own phone, joining by typing a room code or scanning a QR code.

The name comes from Jackbox Games, whose party packs made the format popular, but many studios and small developers now make games the same way. What they share is the setup: a host screen, phones as controllers, no extra hardware, and short rounds that need no experience.

Most fall into a few families: bluffing games where you write fake answers, drawing games, trivia and quiz games, and social deduction games with hidden roles. Because the phone does the typing, drawing and voting, nobody needs to share a controller, and everyone's answers stay secret until the reveal.

Free ones that run in a browser need no download on either side. Bossfeed's party games work like this: Boss's Bluff (bluffing trivia), Boss Draw (draw and guess), Marble Rush (a marble race), Surviversus (a survival arena), Final Boss Fiesta (a party board game) and Board Game Night (chess, poker and other table games).
