Bluffing game
A bluffing game is a game in which players score by deceiving the others with convincing false claims, or by seeing through the claims of others to find the truth.
There are two main shapes. In the first, such as poker or Liar's Dice, you bluff about hidden information like a hand of cards or dice under a cup. In the second, popular at parties, everyone writes a fake answer to a trivia question, the real answer is mixed in with the fakes, and players vote for the one they think is true. You score for guessing right and for each person your fake fools.
The second kind, sometimes called a fake-answer game, was popularized by the board game Balderdash and later by Jackbox's Fibbage. It rewards creativity and a straight face more than knowledge, because the best fakes sound like facts and the real answer is often stranger than the invented ones.
On Bossfeed, Boss's Bluff is a bluffing trivia game for 2 to 8 players: the TV shows a prompt about history or art, everyone writes a lie on their phone, and the room votes.
