Autumn has better writing about it than any other season, and these puzzles are made of it. Find the hidden words and you complete a line of Keats, of Thomas Hood, of Will Carleton or James Whitcomb Riley — 'season of mists and mellow fruitfulness', 'when the frost is on the punkin'. Print them for the kitchen table or solve them here; either way you come out the other side with a poem.
Free, with no account and no email. There are four fall puzzles on this page, each with its own answer key, and you can print them one at a time or all together. Print as many copies as you need — for a classroom, a care home, a family table or a rainy afternoon.
Middling, and deliberately so — harder than a children's puzzle, gentler than the adults-only Christmas grids. Words run in all eight directions and some are written backwards, but the grids stay small enough to finish over a cup of tea. If you want a bigger challenge, the Christmas word searches for adults use twelve-by-twelve grids.
Keats's 'To Autumn' (1820), Thomas Hood's 'Ode: Autumn', Will Carleton's 'Autumn Days' and James Whitcomb Riley's 'When the Frost is on the Punkin'. All four are public domain, and the author, work, year and source page for each are recorded in the puzzle data rather than merely claimed.
Yes — Thanksgiving has its own page of puzzles built from Whittier, Harriet Beecher Stowe and Will Carleton, and there is a Halloween page too. All of them are linked from the seasonal printables index.
