Novella and novel submissions
Be warned that this one comes with a caveat, and we would rather say it at the top than bury it: we are not a book publisher and we cannot get your novel into shops.
What we can actually offer
We cannot get your novel into bookshops and we will not pretend otherwise. What we can do is real, and there are two shapes of it:
- Serialised on the feed — a chapter at a time, through the reader the site already uses for its own long-form fiction.
- Its own page, server-rendered, so the whole thing is readable and linkable even with JavaScript switched off.
If what you want is a book deal, we are the wrong door and we would rather not waste your four months.

The things everybody asks
Does it cost anything?
No. There is no reading fee. You do not need an account either.
How long until I hear back?
Within 4 months. Jeff reads everything himself, but you will get an answer either way.
Who keeps the rights?
You do. You keep your copyright. You are giving us permission to publish the piece here, and to ask you about including it in a printed collection later. You can publish it elsewhere too.
Will I be paid?
Not at the moment. What you get is a byline, a link to your own work, and a readership. If a piece is chosen for a printed collection we will email you about that separately, before anything is printed.
Can I send something published elsewhere?
For poetry, stories and games, yes — just mention it. For guest posts we would like the piece to be original.
What will you not publish?
We publish up to PG-13. Nothing R-rated or above.
I am under 18 — can I still send something?
Yes. Just ask a parent or guardian before you send us your email address.
