Two kinds of guest post, and they are quite different animals. One reviews somebody else's creative work. The other teaches other creators something you had to learn the hard way.
The two lanes
- Reviews. An indie game, a small-press book, an album, a zine, a piece of interactive fiction — work that is too small for the outlets that do reviews. Tell us what you are reviewing, give it a score out of five, and disclose anything a reader could not work out for themselves.
- Craft and education. How you built the thing, what you got wrong, the technique nobody explained to you. These usually run on the Final Boss Editing blog, which has been publishing exactly this for years.
About links
You get a byline, two lines about yourself, and a link to your own work. Those links do not pass search credit. We mention it up front so that nobody writes two thousand words under a misunderstanding.

The things everybody asks
Does it cost anything?
No. There is no reading fee. You do not need an account either.
How long until I hear back?
Within 4 months. Jeff reads everything himself, but you will get an answer either way.
Who keeps the rights?
You do. You keep your copyright. You are giving us permission to publish the piece here, and to ask you about including it in a printed collection later. You can publish it elsewhere too.
Will I be paid?
Not at the moment. What you get is a byline, a link to your own work, and a readership. If a piece is chosen for a printed collection we will email you about that separately, before anything is printed.
Can I send something published elsewhere?
For poetry, stories and games, yes — just mention it. For guest posts we would like the piece to be original.
What will you not publish?
We publish up to PG-13. Nothing R-rated or above.
I am under 18 — can I still send something?
Yes. Just ask a parent or guardian before you send us your email address.
