Trivia

Trivia is a collection of small, specific facts and the quiz games built on them, in which players answer questions on topics from history and science to film and sport.

Trivia crazes come in waves. Pub quizzes have been a staple for decades, board games such as Trivial Pursuit took the format into living rooms in the early 1980s, and TV game shows and phone apps carried it further. The appeal is low stakes: you do not need to be an expert, only to know a little about a lot.

Several formats are common. Straight question-and-answer is the oldest. Multiple choice lowers the barrier. Estimation questions ask for a number and score by closeness. And bluffing trivia, such as the fake-answer games, scores you for inventing believable wrong answers as well as for knowing the right one.

Bossfeed has trivia in three styles. The Daily History Quiz and Daily Art Quiz are quick solo rounds. Boss's Bluff is a party game for 2 to 8 phones built on the bluffing format, with questions about history and art.
