Party game

A party game is a game designed for a group of people playing together in the same place, with rules simple enough to learn in about a minute and a pace that keeps spectators as entertained as players.

What sets a party game apart is how little it asks of you. There is no long rulebook, no need to have played before, and no big gap between the best player and the newest one. Rounds are short, so people can drop in, drop out and come back, and much of the fun comes from reacting to each other rather than from winning.

The category covers a lot of ground: charades and Pictionary at a living room table, board games, bluffing and drawing games, trivia nights, and video games played on a shared screen. Many modern ones use everyone's phone as the controller, so no extra equipment is needed.
